Nozal... y Josua Havu presentation
- Effectively. In reality I am two and only one true God, a mystery similar
to that of the Saintly Trinity which gives the Roman Catholics such a run around and which
I have been bored to tears with since I was a child.
|
- In general something similar occurs with every circumstance of the
judo-christian culture, that is to say once I discover the fallacy, I take on board the
predicament and fuck the predicant.
|
|
|
- I found out too early that life is a shithole. When
television still delivered its images in black
|
|
- and white I was already a perverted old man who dreamt
about the colours needed for the impossible redemption of man.
|
- Now I am an extremely young painter who is out of his
mind and returns from places without having been anywhere.

with the promotion of art, whose main objective is to restore an old industrial building
situated on the Castille Canal on its way through Grijota (Palencia/España) in order to
convert it into residences and studios for artists from all over the world; a project
which endeavours to pull together all the support it can get so it can be thought as a

An interview for the newspaper El
País
NOZAL, in the RED
Question: What's a painter doing typing HTML codes?
- Answer: Look I am a
painter, but a painter who has already been there and come back and for whom a social
life, etiquette, the family, status, the clergy, politics, career, the market, treachery,
success, coca-cola and saturday night... don't mean a thing. Anyway why not a little HTML?
- Q: What do you expect
from the Internet?
- A: I don't expect
anything specific. I don't know what it can do for me....nobody knows for sure and that
perhaps is its best attraction.
- Q: It is said that it
is the future.
- A: Lots of stupid
things have been said. The only way that Internet resembles the future is that no-one
knows what's going to happen.
|
|
- Q: Isn't it a little unrewarding for a painter?
- A: In the same way it could be unrewarding for a writer,
a butcher, a farmer...
- Q: I say that because at first sight it appears
unthinkable 'oil with computer science'...
- A: I believe that they go together stupendously. In
reality oil goes well with anything, what is crucial is that the hand that guides it moves
with freedom, that's what is really important.
- Q: Apart from freedom what other thing is important to
you?
- A: That exact margin of freedom...that is, the blade of
the knife.

A feature for the magazine Interviú
|
|
- "In the beginning, in mythical times. in the sacred
time before men, a woman copulated with God," writes the author Jesús Alonso
Burgos referring to work by Nozal. From that divine copulation was born the
gods and men. Due to that, as all ancient cultures realised, that sacred and exemplary
history that narrates the mythical birth of civilisation, shouldn't be forgotten instead,
permanantly remembered, in art or life itself (such is the meaning of the beginning and
the indulging ritual)..."

pages. 82, 83, 84, 85)
